Building an education facility is invariably a race against time – projects need to be completed before the start of the academic semester.

This was precisely the case for the build of the new Whitireia Kapiti campus. Freear Philip worked closely with the project consultants to ensure the project would be completed to a high standard and delivered on time.

Freear Philip specialises in medium-sized commercial construction, from new builds to refurbishments and interior fit-outs, and this project was a mix of all three. It involved complex plumbing, mechanical and electrical services to cater to the courses on offer. The project incorporated a large commercial-scale teaching kitchen, café and hairdressing school, in addition to classrooms and administration offices.

The footprint of the building was significantly increased through the addition of a mezzanine level and a new outdoor pursuits centre at one end.

The project was kept on track and delivered to a high standard through good management and coordination.
